Outreach Activities - February and March 2006

Science and Engineering Discovery Program

On February 16, 2006, Center Director, David Lange, supported the CEAT outreach effort by leading a day with the University of Illinois WATERCAMWS' 2005-2006 Science and Engineering Discovery Program. The program highlights a different department in the College of Engineering each month speaking with students at three high schools in the Chicago area – Lane Technical H.S., Morgan Park H.S. and Hales Franciscan H.S. Professor Lange spoke to students about the Center and the civil engineering concepts used in its research and in various civil engineering careers.

Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Profession Development Fair

One of the Center's sponsors, the O'Hare Modernization Program (OMP), has several Affiliated Engineering Companies that are looking for qualified college students to fulfill internships for the summer in the Chicago area. CEAT is helping to match students from the University of Illinois and other Universities with the OMP affiliated engineering companies. CEAT will also host a few student internships this summer to do research on Center projects.
