games camp workshop with ceat

August 5-7, 2009

CEAT hosted a session for the Girls’ Adventures in Mathematics, Engineering, and Science (GAMES) Summer Camp in a classroom at Newmark Civil Engineering Lab at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  The College of Engineering coordinates an annual week long camp designed to give academically talented middle school girls an opportunity to explore exciting engineering and scientific fields through demonstrations, classroom presentations, hands-on activities, and contacts with women in these technical fields.  CEAT hosted a classroom session on Civil Engineering and the Affects of Water on Materials.  Graduate Students Yi-Shi Liu, Jacob Henschen, David Marks, Yaodong Chi (Visiting Scholar), and David Gimeno (CEAT IAESTE Intern) taught the session.
