CEAT Grad students win 2nd place in faa design competition

The FAA Offices of Safety Services and Airport Safety and Standards, in parternship with AAAE, ACC, ACI-NA, and NASAO, sponsored a Design Competition for Universities. UIUC Graduate Students Jonguen Baek and Zhen Leng won 2nd place in the area of Airport Operation and Maintenance. Their research work and report was entitled, "In-place Hot Mix Asphalt Density Estimation Using Ground Penetrating Radar for Airport Pavement Quality." The selection was made by a panel of FAA, industry and academic experts.
